Several days aboard
Full board living on the dive boat — your cabin, your meals, your between-dive rest all on the water, waking each day at a new remote site rather than commuting from shore.
Dahab's shore diving is world-class, but for experienced divers the wider Red Sea holds reefs and wrecks reachable only by boat — the offshore reefs of the north, the famous wrecks, the walls and pinnacles teeming with bigger life. Our liveaboard safaris take small groups of experienced divers out for several days, living aboard the boat, diving the remote sites that day trips cannot reach. They carry the same small-group, safety-first ethos as everything else we do, simply scaled up to the open water and the longer trip.
A liveaboard safari is the most immersive way to dive the Red Sea. You live aboard a dive boat for the duration of the trip, waking where you anchored, diving several times a day, and moving between remote sites that are simply too far for a day trip from shore. There is a rhythm to it that divers love — dive, eat, rest, dive again, sleep under the stars on deck, repeat — and an intensity of diving you cannot get any other way. The sites reached this way are often the Red Sea's best: offshore reefs thick with life, historic wrecks, walls dropping into the blue, far from any crowd.
These trips are for experienced certified divers, not beginners — the diving can be deeper, the conditions more open-sea, and the days demanding. We are honest about that when you enquire, and we will tell you frankly if a safari is a step beyond your current experience and suggest building up first. We keep the groups small even aboard, hold to the same safety standards as on the shore, and run the safaris only with operators and boats we trust. Because every safari is different in route, season and boat, we quote them per trip — get in touch through the contact page and we will put together the right one. The safety thinking is on the safety page.
Safaris are quoted per trip, but they share a common shape. Here is what a typical safari with us involves.
Full board living on the dive boat — your cabin, your meals, your between-dive rest all on the water, waking each day at a new remote site rather than commuting from shore.
Several guided dives daily, including the night dives and dawn dives that day trips cannot offer, at sites chosen for the trip's level and the conditions. An intensity of diving unmatched from shore.
The offshore reefs, wrecks and walls that make the Red Sea legendary, far from the crowds — the diving experienced divers travel across the world to do.
A solid certification and genuine recent experience — these are not trips for new or rusty divers. Tell us your logbook honestly and we will tell you frankly whether a safari suits you now or whether to build up first. We would never put an under-prepared diver on a demanding open-water trip.
Typically several days to a week, depending on the route. Because each safari is different, we plan and quote them individually around your dates, the season and the sites you most want. Ask and we will design one.
Because boats, routes, seasons and group sizes all vary, a single fixed price would be a fiction. We give you a clear, honest quote for your actual trip once it is planned, with everything included and nothing hidden — the same straight pricing as the rest of the prices page.
Tell us your experience and dates and we will plan and quote a safari for you.
